In this part of Algarve, there are various spots that are ideal for practicing kitesurf or kiteboard, places like Praia do Tonel (Tonel Beach) in Sagres, or El Cabo de San Vincente.

Kitesurfing is a risky sport, and as such, a course in it is strongly reccomended for beginners. Also, the wind is important in this sport, especially for those that are just starting out. If you don´t have much experience, you shouldn´t practice alone. In Algarve, you should practice with the Western wind, Onshore and Sideshore Winds. The northen wind, which is predominant in this zone of Vilamoura, is mostly side offshore. Offshore winds can be dangerous when practicing this sport, and should only be practiced by those with high levels of expertise.
