Algarve is a place with marvellous beaches. In Vilamoura you can find lots of things to do like going to the beach, taking a walk on the port, but you mustn´t miss trying its local dishes, mostly made up of fresh fish.

The base of the meals here is mainly composed of seafood, meat, vegetables and fruit. Codfish is considered the national dish. At Christmastime, a popular meal consists of cod stew accompanied with potatos, spring greens and grain stew.

One of Portugal´s main attractions is the gastronomy that the Portuguese offer throughout their country.

Every morning boats arrive with fresh fish caught in the early morning hours, and the fish is later prepared for lunch or dinner in the many restaurants of the area. The most popular dishes here are fish soup and stews, octopus, rice, and shellfish. In the interior of the Algarve you will also find rual flavors of chicken, beans, tomatoes, grains, and stews.

Some examples of desserts in the Algarvean gastronomy are figs stuffed with almonds, and other sweets made of almonds, honey, and fig.
